Individual Note:
William Asprey founded the family business of "Asprey & Co." in 1871, which one of William's grandson's moved to Bond St., London, which now has branches in Paris & New York. Aspreys have long enjoyed a world-wide reputation for silver & luxury goods of the highest quality, & it is likely that in the early years Phipps Bridge supplied, albeit briefly, fine silks for the lining of the expensive dressing cases & similar goods sold by the family business.
