Individual Note: Dewsbury. Family in the woollen industry. He ran away to join navy when about 17. father went after him in horse and trap. He ran away again to become a miner. Worked in the pit all his life and loved it. Had many accidents. Died of gangrene.
He was called up to 1914-18 war. A seargeant shouted at him so much that he stepped out of the line, hit him and knocked him out, went to Jail, and did not get shipped with rest of men who mostly died.
